Jenzabar’s Learning Management System Reaches Interoperability Compliance

IMS Global Learning Consortium Gives Jenzabar New Learning Tools Certification

Boston, MA – October 18, 2012 – Jenzabar®, Inc., a leading provider of software, strategies and services for higher education, announced today that the IMS Global Learning Consortium has certified Jenzabar for achieving compliance with two major open specifications of interoperability. Jenzabar’s learning management system (LMS) updated its compliance with the IMS Common Cartridge specification, supporting open standards for digital learning content. Both Jenzabar’s learning management system and portal also continue to meet the updated IMS Learning Tools Interoperability specification.

Jenzabar’s LMS is now certified for the IMS Learning Tools Interoperability v1.1 and IMS Common Cartridge v1.1, and Jenzabar’s portal is certified for IMS Learning Tools Interoperability v1.1. Achieving conformance with the IMS Global Learning Consortium indicates that a product has gone through and passed testing prescribed by the IMS members in an ongoing community process. Common Cartridge enables the integration of digital learning resources such as courses, e-books, tests, quizzes, simulations, online discussions, and forums, in an interoperable format. Learning Tools Interoperability is an open standard for seamless integration of educational tools and web applications between learning management platforms and portals and digital tool providers.

“Jenzabar has been working with the IMS Global Learning Consortium for years, and it is always a top priority for us to comply with their guidelines as we continue to support open technology standards,” said Rick Tomlinson, Academic Solutions Product Manager at Jenzabar. “The IMS certifications symbolize Jenzabar’s commitment to interoperability and our vision to help customers embrace new learning tools that engage students.”
