Jenzabar and RoomSync Offer Roommate Selection Through Social Networking
Future Students Choose Roommates Directly Through Mobile Devices and Integration with Facebook® Platform
Boston, MA – April 11, 2012 – Jenzabar®, Inc., a leading provider of software, services, and strategies for higher education, announced a partnership today with RoomSync, an innovative Facebook app for roommate matching. The partnership will provide Jenzabar clients with unique access to RoomSync’s software.
The need for a solution that increases roommate compatibility is greater than ever before. According to a recent Michigan State University-led study , roommate conflict is one of the five major risk factors contributing to college dropout rates. With more than 96% of college students registered on Facebook, it is an ideal platform to empower students to select roommates directly on the social site.
Through the partnership, RoomSync works with housing departments at Jenzabar client communities to create a seamless roommate matching solution, integrated with Facebook, that helps decrease roommate conflicts. Students can browse potential roommates based upon matching factors such as lifestyle preferences, academic majors, Facebook interests, mutual friends, and more. Students can also view suggested roommates and search for a roommate by the interests they have listed on Facebook. Once future students find a compatible roommate, they match through RoomSync and the housing department receives a full roommate report.
“Our partnership with RoomSync provides Housing Departments with a convenient solution through the latest technology in roommate matching,” said Robert A. Maginn, Jr., CEO of Jenzabar. “By integrating with a platform that students are already connected to on a daily basis, the powerful roommate selection option will deliver enhanced student services and contribute to an overall better student experience.”
All of these features are also available on RoomSync Mobile, which is available for download on Android and in upcoming weeks on iPhone to current RoomSync users. The mobile version allows students to receive instant notifications and access the application anytime and anywhere.
“The essence of RoomSync is empowering residents to make their own roommate decision rather than leaving it up to fate. Roommate compatibility and self-selection have become incredibly important at colleges and universities during the rise of social media,” said Michael Hacker, President of RoomSync. “Our partnership with Jenzabar will bring RoomSync to a greater number of institutions – and most importantly, lead to a greater number of happier and more successful students.”
RoomSync is the leading Facebook app for selecting college roommates. Founded in 2007, RoomSync currently has more than 30 university clients and 50 off-campus apartment clients. Through the RoomSync app, students are able to easily identify potential roommates based on information found through Facebook. To date, more than 30,000 students have used RoomSync to identify potential roommates. A 2009 fbFund finalist, RoomSync is privately held and is headquartered in Gainesville, Florida.
